Lot 378 United States Of America #64b 3c Rose Pink George Washington, 1861-1869 Civil War Issue, A Fine Used Single Scarce Shade, With Clear Bluish Undertone, But Rosier Shade Than Lots 411-413
A fine used single of the 3c rose pink George Washington from the 1861-1869 Civil War Issue scarce shade, with clear bluish undertone, but rosier shade than lots 411-413. This is a very distinct shade, of which we only found two examples in the 200 or so stamps we examined. It still has a clear bluish undertone compared to the more common rose and rose red shades in lot 376, but it has a very slight rose tone to it also - certainly in a way that lot 376 does not.
