Lot 425 Canada #316var 20c Bluish Slate Newsprint Industry, 1950-1952 Natural Resources Issue, A VFOG Single With Unlisted Black Mark Above Water Tower - Ink From the "G" Overprinting, But No G Overprint - Interesting

A VFOG single of the 20c bluish slate Newsprint Industry from the 1950-1952 Natural Resources Issue with unlisted black mark above water tower - ink from the "g" overprinting, but no g overprint - interesting. This is the first time I have come across any apparent plate flaw on this value. This variety appears to have actually come from the process by which a number of the existing stamps received official G overprints, as the black ink appears to be exactly the same type. Beyond that, I can't really tell you anything else.

Unitrade values this at $2.25 for a normal VFNH single without the variety. Our estimate of the value with the variety is $10. The stamps offered here grade 75 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 45/70

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
