3 VFNH singles of the 32c multicoloured Pilots in Flying Gear, Treffle Berthiaume from the 1984 Air Force & Treffle Berthiaume Issues DF2/DF2 and HF/DF2 Harrison papers, 2 different shades on left pilot's jacket. The "1" or "2" in the paper description refers to where the paper falls on the Irwin-Freeman scale, from 0 to 12, with 0 being NF and 12 being the brightest of hibrites. DF2 is quite close to LF, but not quite bright enough. That being said, the difference between DF2 and NF visually is quite striking. In this group the extremes are the least common paper types, so the HF faced paper on the Treffle Berthiame Issue is a premium variety. The air force issue differs with respect to the browb of the left pilot's jacket. One one pair the jacket is a distinct walnut brown, and on the other a much redder brown. Not so long ago, I thought that these issues only existed on DF/DF paper, but I was very, very wrong about this, as these stamps show.
Unitrade does not list these varieties, but we estimate the value at $12. The pairs offered here grades 80 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 50/70
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
