fine NH singles of the 2c brown from the 1935 Silver Jubilee issue on medium & thin translucent paper with clear vertical mesh, unlisted, cream semi-gloss gum. There is no listing in Unitrade for a thin paper variety, but on this value there is definitely a paper that is noticeably thinner than the paper normally found. It looks more translucent than the normal paper.
Unitrade does not list this variety. Our estimate of the value with the regular and thinner paper is $5. The stamps offered here grade 70 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 40/70
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
On this issue, there are at least two shades of each value that can be collected, and sometimes as many as three of four. The paper, varies from cream to white in tone, and some paper shows no visible vertical mesh, or no obvious mesh, while other papers show clear vertical mesh, or grain in the paper. There is also a thin crisp paper, which is translucent, and will show much of the design detail through the back of the stamp. Gum varies from cream semi-gloss to deep yellow semi gloss, with streaky versions as well. Most values also seem to exhibit the occasional minor plate flaw, or re-entry, though considerable study will be required to establish the significance of these items.
