Collection: Current Weekly Auction - Closing Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 11:30 pm Atlantic Time

Welcome to our weekly unreserved auction! This week we offer material from three specialized areas, incorporating a range of the material just received on consignment, plus the next part of all the new material we have purchased in 2 auctions, and material we had on hand that has accumulated over time.  First, we offer a selection of mint and used Canada from 1859 to 1960.  For the Large Queens offered as part of this, we have now created a paper table for that issue and integrated it with the Small Queen table. You can view that table here. Secondly, we have a comprehensive offering of Netherlands, which compliments the colonial material offered last week.

Finally, we pause our our offering of Small Queens, for another week, due to time constraints, but we will resume next week, with the balance of the undated second Ottawa printings of the 3c. We have made some edits to the paper table, adding some rows, and further clarifying our descriptions for some of the papers. In other weeks we have presented this issue in great depth, splitting the Montreal and Ottawa periods up into middle, early and later sub-periods, and detailing papers, perfs and shades. I am also uploading a number of videos on my Youtube channel dealing with these issues, which you may find both instructive and enjoyable. This is without a doubt, the deepest I have ever gone into this issue, having painstakingly identified and described ALL the papers that occur in each of the following 8 periods:

Period Dates  Paper Types Perfs
First Ottawa 1870-1872 FO-A to FO-K 11.9, 11.9 x 12 and 11.9 x 12.1
Early Montreal 1872-1875 EM-A to EM-D 12
Mid Montreal 1875-1880 MM-A to MM-W 11.75 x 12, 11.6 x 12, 11.5 x 12
Late Montreal 1880-1888 LM-A to LM-P 12, 12.1, 12.2 & compounds
Montreal Gazette 1888 MG-A to MG-G 12.25, 12.1 & compounds
Early 2nd Ottawa 1889-1893 2O-A, 2O-F, 2O-G, 2O-AA, 2O-BB 11.9, 12, 12.1, 12.2 & compounds
Mid 2nd Ottawa 1893-1895 2O-B to 2O-E & 2O-H to 2O-M and 2O-CC 12, 11.9 & compounds
Late Second Ottawa 1895-1897 2ON to 2O-Z 12, 11.9 & compounds

The above table is an evolving summary that may change somewhat, as I cover each value in the set. For a description of the individual paper types, please see the table on this page

Lots marked with a "(C)" next to the lot number are on consignment. Accordingly a 15% buyer's premium will apply to those lots only.

There are approximately 320 lots this week. The first 256 lots are listed tonight, with the balance to follow tomorrow.

If you are new to the auction, please visit our FAQ page for a description of all the relevant terms and conditions. Please also note that all Canadian residents will be charged appropriate sales taxes based on where they reside.
