Lot 73 Canada #1194i 37c Blue Parliament Buildings, 1988-1991 Mammal & Architecture Issue, A VFNH Coil Pair ON DF Rolland Paper, Showing Horizontal Tagging Shift In Which Taggant Appears Between Inscriptions
A VFNH coil pair of the 37c blue Parliament Buildings from the 1988-1991 Mammal & Architecture Issue on DF Rolland paper, showing horizontal tagging shift in which taggant appears between inscriptions. On these stamps, the tagging is usually a smooth band that runs alongside the inscriptions on the left side of the stamps. The space in the margins between "Parliament" and "Parlement" is free of any taggant and is white. However, on these, a layer of taggant which is normally applied to darken the bands is shifted slightly over to the right, so that the space between the words is tagged also. This variety demonstrates that the tagging was applied in layers, rather than as a single pass.
Unitrade values this at $250 for normal tagging. Our estimate of the value for the tagging variety is $300. The coil pair offered here grades 80 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 50/70
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
