Canada #993, iii, 994-995 32c Multicoloured 1983 Canadian Scouting, Council of Churches, Newfoundland Issues, 8 VFNH Singles, On NF/NF, NF/DF, DF/LF, MF/DF And DF/DF Papers, Two Shades of Grey On Gilbert Stamp
8 VFNH singles of the 32c multicoloured Scout Encampment, Stylized Cross, Sir Humphrey Gilbert from the 1983 Canadian Scouting, Council of Churches, Newfoundland Issues. The Newfoundland and Council of Churches Issues are the first to be printed on a new type of Harrison paper, whose default appearance under UV is MF, rather than LF or DF, and whose default back reading is just DF. I have not yet found any variations in the paper used for the Council of Churches issue, but I have on the Newfoundland issue. In this lot the Newfoundland issue is represented by MF7/DF and DF2/DF papers. The MF7/DF paper is represented by two different shades of the background grey, one being much more greenish than the other. The scouting issue includes many unlisted variations and includes: NF/NF, NF/DF2-fl with very sparse LF fibres, DF1/DF2-fl with sparse LF fibres, DF1/LF3-fl deep violet. This was the last commemorative to be printed on Abitibi paper. The Council of Churches issue is on MF8/DF1 paper.
Unitrade does not list any paper varieties on the Churches and Newfoundland isses, even though there are at least two of these two issues, and several on the scouting issue that are not listed. Not all are equally common. Our best estimate of the value, based on what similar listed paper varieties sell for is $10. The stamps offered here grade 80-84 as follows:
