There is a partial "Luftpost" label affixed to the front after the fact, for some unknown reason (no airmail in 1897!), Franked with 6 singles of the 1/2d on 1/- surcharge and two singles of the 1d green & carmine arms. This pays 5d postage to France. There is a stain affecting one 1/2d stamp and the backflap is missing. Fine.
