A VFNH single of the 45c multicoloured Osgoode Hall from the 1997 Law Society Of Upper Canada showing marked misregistration of text on wax seal, with normal to compare. Normally there is a very slight misregistration between the white and black components of the design in the wax seal. The effect of this is to generally emphasize the white, by making the black appear as a shadow. Here, the displacement is less than 1/4 mm. In the case of the variety, the displacement is more than 1/2 mm and maybe as much as a full mm, which makes it appear doubled, rather than emphasized.
