10 VFNH singles of the 32c multicoloured Josiah Henson, Antoine Labelle & Coat Of Arms from the 1983 Discovery of Nickel - Dalhousie Law School Issue. Various Harrison & Clark papers, different shades. The Canadian Pioneers issue is the first commemorative issue to be printed on Clark paper, and while this paper is generally always NF on the front, the back can be either DF or NF. In this lot both stamps are on NF/NF and NF/DF1 papers. The Antoine Labelle also shows two distinct and different sky shades. The other two sets are on Harrison paper. The Nickel issue is problematic because Unitrade lists the basic stamp as dull, which is only correct on the back. The front of this paper is nearly always at least F5 level of fluorescence, and often MF8. It is the back that shows the variation. This lot includes MF8/DF1 yellowish, MF8/LF3, F5/DF1 yellowish and F5/DF2-fl greyish with very sparse LF flecks. The Dalhousie Law School issue is generally DF on front, with the scarce paper being MF on front, but also with LF versions existing as well. In this lot the papers for this stamp are DF2/DF2 and DF2/LF3-fl, with very few MF fibres.

Unitrade does not list any paper varieties on the Canadian Pioneers issue, even though there are at least 2 types of Clark paper There are also unlisted further variations of Harrison paper. Not all are equally common. Our best estimate of the value, based on what similar listed paper varieties sell for is $10. The stamps offered here grade 80-84 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 50/70 and 54/70

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
