A nearly complete set of 6 F-VF first flight covers covering six of the seven main transit points of the Toronto Canadian National Exhibition Jubilee Flights that were held between August 24 and 29th 1928. The flights were performed by Canadian Transcontinental Airlines to demonstrate the feasibility of airmail to the public. The seven main transit points are:
• Montreal to Toronto
• Ottawa to Toronto
• Kingston to Toronto
• Hamilton to Toronto
• London to Toronto
• Windsor to Toronto
• Quebec to Toronto (not included with this lot)
All six covers are franked with #144, the 5c violet Laurier stamp from the 1927 Confederation issue or #146, the 5c Mc Gee stamp of the 1927 Historical Issue. All bear a green commemorative cachet, except for the cover coming from Montreal, which has two, one in English and one in French. All have been sent on to Chicago after reaching Toronto, and have Chicago backstamps. All except the Montreal and Ottawa covers are signed by the postmasters of the cities they originate from.
