A fine unused single, 5c red brown type 1, superb appearing example of this classic rarity, boasting 3 jumbo margins that show portions of adjoining stamps in each one, includes cert.
Right margin just barely clear of the right frameline. There is a fairly large tear which starts at the corner of the upper frame ornament, extends through 'Postage' and ends at the right margin. This has been sealed by regumming, as described in the 2026 PSE certificate. This is a fabulously rare stamp in unused condition, with no fewer than 100 known examples. Scott Cat $11,000 for VF no gum. I grade this is fine, adter deducting 20 points for the tear, due to the large size of the margins. So as a fine example an approximate value would be $5,500, as a VG example about $2,750. Sio i think a realistic estimate of the value of this stamp in this condition is $4,000. You will not be bale to fill that space in your album for much less. A sound unused example will cost you the full $11,000 at a Siegel Auction, plus buyers premium. One with gum will cost more than $30,000, so this is as good as it gets in a more realistic price range.
Scott values this at $11000, so we estimate it at $4000.
