Lot 283 Nigeria #16b, 1d Deep Rose Red 1921-1932 King George V Imperium Keyplate Issue, Usage On Late-Fee Registered Cover To Germany

A registered envelope, sent to Germany on November 12, 1929 at the 10d rate, which was 3d registration, 2d postage and 5d late fee. Franked with 7 1d deep rose red die 2 stamps. There is a black Proud type I8 late fee handstamp for Lagos.

VF condition overall. The value of the cancel in Proud is nominal GBP. The destination for the cover is slightly better, as one of the more common Western European destinations, and adds $5 to the basic cover value of $5. The Late Fee is an unusual rate, as is the marking, so this adds $25. The stamp value on cover is $4. So, my estimate of the value of this cover is $39.
