Lot 259 Nigeria #16b 1d Rose Red 1921-1932 King George V Imperium Keyplate Issue, Usage On Registered Local Cover To Makurdi

Scarce locally used registered envelope which has been uprated for local use by affixing a 1d rose red die 2. The cover was sent from Zaria to Makurdi, through Lagos. The stamp has been affixed over the flap, so that it was ripped in half when the envelope was opened. This is of little consequence though, as most of the value of this cover lies in its scarcity as a local item. Local mail is very scarce, as the vast majority of it was thrown away. The stamp and the 3d indicta are tied by Proud type D6 Cancels. There is also a Proud type D3 Makurdi receiving backstamp.

VF condition overall. The value of the cancels in Proud is 10 GBP. The destination for the cover is very scarce, and should add $25, and the basic covers would be $5. The stamp value on cover is nil. So, my estimate of the value of these is $40.
