Lot 266 Nigeria #20 2d Chocolate 1921-1932 King George V Imperium Keyplate Issue, Usage On 1931 Registered Envelope To The UK, Multiple Backstamps
A 3d bright blue registered envelope, uprated to 5d by affixing a single 2d chocolate die 2 stamp. The cover is sent from Akure on October 12, 1931 and routed via Oshogbo on October 14, 1931, and Lagos on October 15th. There is a November 6 Birmingham receiving backstamp. The stamps are tied by Proud type R2 Akure registry cancels. The cover has Proud type R2 Oshogbo registry backstamp - this is later than the latest recorded date in Proud, which was September 27, 1929.
VF condition overall. The value of the cancels in Proud is 13 GBP. The destination for the covers is not of any premium value. The basic cover is $5. The stamp value on cover is $1. So, my estimate of the value of this cover is $19.
